Shogun demands a large amount of resources to run smoothly.

I use a memory utility that monitors the amount of free ram available to my system.
I have observed that most of my Shogun problems occur when free ram drops below 24Mb
- or about 1/5 of my total available memory

What follows is a step by step guide to freeing up as many resources as possible,

If you are confident of your skill,
you can follow all the steps without rebooting till the end.

If you, like myself, prefer to take things one step at a time,
and check the results at the end of each step;
Simply download each of these pages using IE5 or above
- which will save the images as well.

I have titled each page with it's Function and Step number for your convenience.
Simply use the default 'save as' name,
save them to any suitable folder on your hard drive,
and the pages will still link to each other.

The reason for the order I have chosen for these steps is simplicity.
Some programs have more than one method of disabling them.
Some, like Nortons Utilities (a very usefull suite of programs)
can be pains to suspend or disable.
As you follow these steps,
there should be fewer and fewer changes to make as you proceed.

If you reach the end of these steps and you still have some programs running,
quickly run through this check list again.

After that it is a matter of finding the option which allows you to prevent the program from loading with windows, these options can be tucked away under 'options',
'settings', 'advanced', and so on.
They can be called 'start with windows', 'load on startup', 'auto start/load',
the authors of these programs don't want you to disable them.
So they make these settings as hard as possible to find.

For Example:-
Nortons Utilities has a Configuration Manager which controls some of these options.
Thus they won't appear in the actual program.
You have to go into the configuration manager to disable them.

Big Disclaimer
Make sure you have an idea what effects any changes to your Sytem might have.
All of these tips work fine on the dozen odd systems that I maintain.
This entire document and all it's pages are hints and advice - Not Gospel.
Fiddling with the Display Properties Loader should be done with caution.
None of the advice here will 'break' anything.
If something doesn't work after trying these hints, re-install it.
